Enhance Your Diesel’s Performance & Efficiency with a DPF, DEF, or EGR Delete Service
A DPF, EGR or DEF delete is one of the most requested and popular diesel engine services we perform at Revolution Motors Edmonton.
DPF Delete
A Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) has been built into your diesel engine to help remove diesel particulate matter or soot from the engine. The soot is stored in a canister containing soot-catching compartments that look like honeycombs, located in the middle of your diesel truck’s exhaust system. Once the ‘honeycombs’ get plugged up with soot, the exhaust becomes restricted and then it starts a regen cycle. During this cycle, diesel fuel is used to burn off the soot so it all comes out at once and your exhaust system can breath again.
When a DPF is damaged it can result in a massive repair bill and often the removal of that particulate matter comes at the cost of power, fuel economy and engine life. A DPF system that remains in place will give your truck terrible fuel economy and once removed, the fuel economy can be improved by up to 30%.
Most diesel truck owners are looking for increased performance, horsepower and torque because they use their truck for towing or carrying heavy loads. This is why many diesel truck owners choose a DPF delete. Edmonton diesel repair shops like Revolution Motors offer this DPF delete service to ensure your engine is still kept clean while helping your engine gain power, efficiency, and a longer lifespan. In many cases, a proper DPF delete will result in gaining over 100-horsepower while improving your fuel mileage and the lifetime of your vehicle. Ask us about a Ford 6.4L DPF Delete Service, or a service for your GMC, Dodge, or Chevy truck.
DEF Delete
The Diesel Engine Fluid (DEF) system is essentially the same as the DPF, except it uses DEF instead of diesel fuel. Similar to the DPF system, the DEF system removes soot from your engine and stores it in a canister located within your exhaust system in little ‘honeycomb’ shaped compartments. When too much soot builds up and needs to be cleared, this system goes into a regen cycle and uses DEF at a high heat to burn off and blow out the built up soot.
Not only does DEF reduce fuel efficiency and performance, but it can also cause the system to freeze up since it is mostly made up of water! This is a major concern in a northern climate like Edmonton. A DEF Delete Service for your Cummins, Duramax, or Powerstroke diesel engine from Revolution Motors will remove this system so your truck is running at peak efficiency and performance. Trucks with the DEF delete install can improve fuel efficiency by up to 30%.
EGR Delete
An Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) system has been installed in your diesel engine to reduce the vehicle’s exhaust emissions. Though it might reduce the exhaust, it increases the amount of soot in your engine, reduces performance and mileage, and can shorten your engine’s lifespan. EGR systems also have a bad reputation for causing engine troubles including stuck or cracked parts and other issues.
An EGR Delete Kit is an aftermarket part that removes the EGR from your vehicle. Whether you need a Duramax EGR delete, Cummins EGR delete, or an EGR delete for your Ford 6.0, Revolution Motors can provide a quality service that will get the job done and allow your engine to perform at its best. You’ll love the power you get as your engine runs cleaner and lasts much longer.

How do you legally delete a diesel? ›Myth #1 – Deleting or Tuning a Truck is Legal
There is no way around this; it is 100% illegal to tamper with or modify the emission system on your truck in any way. It isn't a state or local law (although those exist, as well), but Federal law.
While you can technically remove the red dye from gas oil, it's actually illegal to do so – and traces of the dye will remain in the engine. The process to remove the red dye from the fuel is called fuel laundering and if found illegally doing so, you can end up with a prison sentence.
Why are deleted trucks illegal? ›According to EPA regulations, it's against the law to tamper with emissions equipment in any way, including performing a truck delete. Alongside the federal laws that ban the kits, many state and local municipalities prohibit them too.
Is it a good idea to remove DPF? ›A diesel particulate filter check has been part of the MOT test since February 2014. If a filter has been removed, the car will fail its MOT. Removing the DPF will sometimes cause the warning light to glow – and this itself is an MOT failure point: no dashboard warning lights should remain on during the test.
Is removing DPF a good idea? ›BENEFITS OF DPF REMOVAL - DPF DELETE

REDUCE IDLING
Even at low engine speeds particulates are emitted by your engine, so keeping your engine ticking over when you're parked or not moving can clog your filter quicker, because DPF regeneration cannot occur at idle.
What rpm is best for diesel? ›
Between 1,300 and 1,500 RPM is the most fuel-efficient engine speed, or what some would call the “sweet spot.”
Why deleting a diesel is good? ›After a diesel delete is completed, the soot-clogging issues are eliminated. There may also be performance improvements such as an increase in torque/horsepower as well as an improvement in fuel economy. These positive changes can depend on the tuner, the after-market software, and the engine hardware.
How often should a diesel do a DPF burn? ›Active regeneration will be initiated every 300 miles or so depending on how you use your car and will take 5 to 10 minutes to complete. But it's a problem if your journey's too short and the regeneration doesn't finish. During active regeneration you may notice: Cooling fans running.
How many miles will a DPF last? ›How long should a DPF last? A DPF can last up to around 100,000 miles if maintained properly. After the car has exceeded that mileage, you could be looking at paying a large amount of money for a replacement - so always properly check MoT and service records when buying a used car.
Can I drill a hole in my DPF? ›Drilling holes in substrates of the Diesel Particulate Filter to make exhaust gases flow more freely through the structure defeats the purpose of the component which is to remove soot from the exhaust.
Does an EGR delete make black smoke? ›You get black smoke from incomplete combustion because the excess fuel in the engine causes the black smoke. Deleting the EGR system does not cause incomplete combustion. Therefore, it will not change the color of the exhaust.
Does EGR shorten engine life? ›An EGR engine is going to have carbon in the engine. That's part of the design. It does not limit the life of the engine," said Weimer. He added that it's soot that reduces engine life and the post '02 EGR engines are proving to create less soot than their predecessors.
Does EGR help gas mileage? ›EGR Valve. The second component that has a negative effect on fuel mileage is the Exhaust Gas Recirculation Valve (EGR). This is an emission control device that aims to control the emissions known as Oxides of Nitrogen (NOx).
